Lilac Solutions Continues to Advance World-Class Kachi Lithium Project with Lake Resources

OAKLAND, Calif., July 6, 2022 — Lilac Solutions, a lithium extraction technology company, reiterates its commitment to rapidly developing the Kachi lithium project in partnership with Lake Resources. Lilac has designed and built a lithium extraction process plant for the Kachi project and successfully delivered this plant to Salta, Argentina in April. This plant is designed to produce a lithium chloride concentrate, with a production capacity of 40 tonnes per annum of lithium carbonate equivalents. Lilac intends to install this plant on-site in July once Lake Resources completes preparation of the on-site infrastructure, and certain results from on-site operations are therefore expected by the end of 2022.

Lilac has developed a new ion exchange technology to increase production of lithium from brine resources. Electric vehicle producers are facing high prices and shortages for lithium raw materials as conventional technologies for lithium production fail to keep pace with demand. Based on extensive test work and FEL-2 engineering studies completed with Hatch Engineering, Lilac believes its technology is well-suited to the Kachi project brine resource and is confident that the on-site process plant will be successful. Lilac remains firmly committed to working with Lake Resources to advance the Kachi project into commercial production as one of the world’s largest, most modern, and most sustainable lithium projects.

“Lilac’s custom-built lithium extraction process plant for the Kachi project arrived in Argentina in April, and the Lilac team is fully prepared to install and commission it on-site” said Dave Snydacker, CEO of Lilac Solutions. “We are confident that the on-site piloting at Kachi will match previous test work and validate our view of Kachi as one of the largest and best-positioned lithium projects globally. We believe that Lake’s proposed reorganization of its executive leadership, including bringing in management with more experience in late-stage project development, is in the best interest of the project.”

Lake Resources continues to advance the Kachi definitive feasibility study (“DFS”) with Hatch Engineering, and Lilac has provided responses to all information solicitations issued by Hatch. Lake and Lilac plan to form a DFS committee to complete this study in parallel to the reorganization of Lake’s management team.

David Alt, Lilac’s Vice President of Engineering, Lithium, who spent more than 25 years with Fluor Corporation, commented on the development of the Kachi project and the DFS.  “The Lilac team’s thorough test-work on Kachi brine provides a strong foundation for the DFS.  Lilac has supported both the Lake Resources and Hatch teams to incorporate results of this test-work into the overall flowsheet and DFS study, and we look forward to completing a successful DFS later this year and moving into project execution,” said Alt.
